Who’s behind the bliss?
Welcome to my blog 🙂 I’m Katie! I’m a certified holistic health coach who studied at the wonderful Institute for Integrative Nutrition. I’m also a recent graduate of Michigan State University with a degree in Psychology.
How Did I Get Started in Holistic Health?
My journey began when I was a freshman in college. I was excited to make new friends, live away from home, and go to tons of crazy parties. However, my body had a very different plan for me that year.
It started with me being diagnosed with mono, which then morphed into a year-long(+) battle with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Basically what that meant for me was that no matter how much I rested, daily life caused me to feel flu-like symptoms. It left me depressed, extremely anxious, and totally devoid of energy. Although I still struggle with CFS symptoms at times, through my spirituality and wellness plan I have improved so, so much.
It is now five years after developing CFS and my life has changed in so many miraculous ways.
I discovered yoga, meditation, journaling, spirituality, reading, laughter, and the importance of connection. I also relearned how to eat and be nice to my body after a 4 year struggle with regimented, obsessive eating and exercise behaviors.
My little blog baby was born when I decided that I had to help others who had struggled with similar issues. I had to share my story and share the story of millions of other people who have benefited so much physically and emotionally from adopting a more holistic lifestyle.
What’s My Mission?
As my blog implies, my goal is to help every person I meet find their inner state of bliss (read: perfect happiness and great joy). I know that life can be incredibly difficult and stressful, so I hope to help others learn to remain calm amidst the storms. I aim to spread love by teaching others to love and respect their bodies, make peace with food, create lasting, healthy habits, reunite with and discover their passions, and to create the life of their dreams.
What Are My Passions?
Yoga is the practice that introduced me to a life filled with compassion and peace. Yoga is the backbone behind all the things that I do, and for that, I am eternally grateful.
When i’m not flipping upside down into handstands and down-dogs, I am:
Meditating, writing, dancing, praying, reading, connecting with friends and family, laughing, playing, petting cute animals, cooking, juicing, blending, baking, watching The Real Housewives, soaking up the sun, and daydreaming.
My life is filled with balance, laughs, fun, and most of all: meaning 🙂
