Chocolate Berry Bliss Smoothie

Welcome to Wednesday, everyone!

I’m sure with the new school year starting, most of you are feeling run-down, exhausted, and ready for the weekend.  I know i’ve been feeling the stress of a new school year!

What better way to get over hump day than a nutrient-filled, antioxidant packed smoothie that tastes more like dessert?

You see, when our bodies are run-down, tired, and sleep-deprived, we tend to crave sugar.  Why is this?  WE NEED ENERGY – NOW!  Unfortunately, this usually means we reach for a sugar-filled latte or candy bar.  This leaves us feeling foggy-minded, shaky, and even angry.  If you listen closely to this craving, it’s really just your body trying to regulate and help you.  Honor your sugar cravings – but do it more intelligently.  What are you really needing? A nap? A hug? Instead of reaching for a candy bar, make yourself a sweet smoothie to reward your body with the nutrients it needs while also getting the chocolatey taste you want 🙂  Here’s my go-to recipe!

  • Soy milk/Almond Milk
  • Frozen blueberries/berries
  • Frozen peach slices
  • Chia Seeds
  • “Wild Friends” All Natural Peanut Butter Chocolate Coconut (you can use your favorite organic, natural chocolate spread but I REALLY recommend this one!! SO GOOD!)
  • Dates, pitted
  • Power Greens, or greens of your choice (I used a blend of baby kale, spinach, swiss chard)


I use a Ninja Blender, so I throw everything in there and simply blend.  I add more soy milk if I want a smoother smoothie, or less if I want a thicker smoothie.  The wonderful thing about smoothies is that you can tailor the amount of the ingredients used to make it your own 🙂

One tip! – If you don’t have a chocolate spread, you can make one by mixing peanut butter, cocoa powder, and a little honey/agave.  That makes a great substitute!

PS ~ I promise you can’t taste the greens at all 🙂 That’s the great part. Enjoy!
